Where should we run our Brisbane team building event?

As Sabre has been designing and delivering everything from fun and entertainment based team approaches, up to serious team and leadership development in "BrisVegas" since 1988, we can easily help pick the right locations.  There are great hotels, attractions and parks ranging from Brisbane CBD to its outer suburbs.

Over the years we have designed events for locations as diverse as...

Roma Street Parklands:

This is an expansive area of gardens, forest, water features and open grassed areas that can be ideal for a well-planned team activity.  There are also some great covered areas and amphitheatres for events. We have often started or finished Amazing Races here.

Southbank:

The Southbank precinct has some wonderful spaces including grassed areas, amphitheatres, facilities and of course the spectacular inland beach right on the banks of the Brisbane River.  This safe and clean waterway can serve as a great location for our Kon Tiki Boat Build. It can however be expensive to hire some of these areas on an exclusive basis.  This area is also in close proximity to the Performing Arts Centre and the Queensland Museum where we can deliver team events with an artistic flavour (like our Picture Perfect challenge or TV Ad and Movie making approaches).

The Brisbane Botanic Gardens:

This truly beautiful expanse of riverside exotic gardens is also blessed with large grassed areas that can offer plenty of shade on a hot Brisbane summer day and is also close by the CBD.  Lots of room for a variety of team building concepts right next to the Brisbane River, QUT and the historic QLD Parliament buildings.

The Queen Street Mall:

For out and about Amazing Races, Quests or Ad making its nice for teams to pass through the vibrant and colourful Queen Street Mall.  Plenty of street performers, artworks and vibrant retail outlets to serve as a living backdrop for races, Film making or other team challenge constructs that might get us out and about.

Fortitude Valley:

There are some quite funky venues and vistas to be enjoyed in and around the colourful "Valley" known to the locals for a vibrant alternative music, bar and club scene.  The "West End" is also worth a look for its trendy street life after dark if your desired team building approach gets you around after dark. In recent years this area has been given quite a facelift.

Things to be careful of when planning Brisbane team building?

Queensland summers can be very hot, and also bring about the onset of sudden rain and storms.  On this basis it can be well worth thinking about indoor team options, or perhaps ones that can be flexible enough to incorporate both the indoors and outdoors?  QLD summers can be very hot, and summer storms sudden and volatile. The further out from your team event's delivery date that we discuss bad weather options the better of course.

Brisbane City Council we have always found to be amongst the most "event friendly" local Governments in Australia when it comes to reduced "red tape" and the use of public parks and spaces.  Even so, it's always wise to obtain all proper permisisons and approvals for use of public parks for team activities anywhere in Brisbane.

Brisbane traffic whilst not as chaotic as that of Sydney, is still worth factoring in for some event styles.  If planning for the use of buses or other vehicles as an aid to team transport during a team challenge then avoidance of peak hours is recommended as there are still traffic snarls at these times (yes even in BrisVegas").

The G20 Summit was a good test of Brisbane's organisational skill, ability and patience.  It seems the River city passed with flying colours.   We have also had close calls with the occasional Cyclone (such as Marcia), and all breathed a sigh of relief when we were relatively untouched.  So it's usually business as usual for conferences, incentives and events in Brisvegas even when the weather turns foul.

Brisbane team events, like this relaxed and fun city itself, can offer event planners a myriad of different choices for indoors and outdoors.

WINTER TEAM BUILDING IN BRISBANE: Brisbane is very much a QLD town with respect to its weather patterns, but we do actually get a winter. On this basis cooler days may need to be taken into account for delegate comfort, perhaps not as much as say Sydney or Melbourne, but nonetheless it's better to consider it.
