Adaptability isn’t just a desirable trait for the teams that we work with — it’s also essential for us in the planning and delivery of flexible outdoor and indoor team building.
One often overlooked factor in the equation of team event delivery is the weather. Event planners may want to get outdoors, but the weather won’t always comply. Having team building options that can work indoors or outdoors is a great comfort.
Unpredictable conditions can derail even the best-laid plans, especially for team-building events scheduled outdoors. That’s why having flexible activity formats that can be deployed indoors or outdoors at short notice is a smart, strategic advantage.
The best outcomes rely on smooth delivery. If an outdoor event is rained out without a viable alternative, the opportunity—and investment—can be lost. On the other hand, having formats that can be quickly transitioned indoors ensures continuity and keeps momentum strong.
Versatile programs also allow for better logistical planning. Teams can relax knowing there’s a Plan B that’s just as engaging as Plan A. This reduces stress for organisers and participants alike, allowing everyone to focus on outcomes rather than contingencies. It also sends a message that the organisation values preparation, foresight, and the well-being of its people.
We recently had to convert an Operation Rollerball concept from outdoor to indoor at very short notice due to oncoming rains in Kingscliff NSW. Luckily this concept was designed to do exactly that.
Outdoor and indoor team building options are a must have. In a climate where agility is everything, even in how we gather and grow our teams, having adaptable indoor-outdoor formats isn’t just a convenience—it’s a competitive edge.
