When in Rome, do as the Romans do. This well-known ancient proverb is attributed to Saint Ambrose and is advising us to understand the conventions of any area that we may find ourselves in, and to learn from them. In this case, it’s a team journey back to ancient Rome.
Our Roman themed business game ‘When in Rome’ gives teams an opportunity to build and sustain their own profitable Empire. They also get to wear some very funky Togas.
The game aims to help individuals and teams to learn about their strengths and weaknesses with a view to taking away some lasting insights and value. Our most recent session with this great game was held on the Gold Coast and helped bring ancient Rome to life in a fun and engaging way.
We can use the game itself or a blend of the game with Belbin Team Role Profiles and reports to tailor an approach for each client. This is used to learn about what worked well and not so well for the Roman Empire and to transfer key lessons learned to real life scenarios.
As well as being a lot of fun, the game is quite sophisticated and carefully designed to draw out a critical mix of thinking, action and social behaviours to look at diversity in teams and also leadership styles.
