Team Building events for Charity are a great way to build working relationships and to give back to the community. This was a great team building for charity event on the Gold Coast.
A Sabre client has recently enjoyed a tailored team building event that enabled them to give back to local Gold Coast Surf Life Saving Clubs.
Teams completed a series of point winning challenge tasks to earn materials and plans to build their own surf rescue boats, then engage in a staged rescue operation. Winning teams then ceremoniously received the large cheques to donate to local Surf Clubs on behalf of their organisation.
Every year thousands of volunteer Life Saves from these Clubs patrol, save lives and run educational programmes and youth events in aid of the community and it is always a pleasure when we and a client can give a bit back to them.
Team building for charity should always be targeted to real needs whenever possible to ensure that it is more than just a ‘feel good’ for participants. Typically we engage in liaison and research with the charities to ensure that what is being given to them by a client is actually needed and will not pose any storage or logistical headaches upon them with unwanted items or efforts. There are times when well-intentioned team builds can see end-user charities burdened with chewing up valuable staff time or logistics at their end that may be disproportionate to the value of the donorship if this is not carefully managed.
